im having problems with my laptop its started out of no where... i dont know whats causing it i turned it on and tryed to sign into msn (windows live messenger version 2009, with msgr plus add on!) and it closed saying "windows live messenger has stopped working" then every now and then a pop up will come on saying "windows explorer has stopped working" then things will dissapear and reappear and just wierd and all confusing i dont know what is causing it to do this, i think it might be a virus? i download alot of torrents but just music and stuff and if there is anything wrong with them i get rid of it straight away. does anyone have any tips or programs of ANYTHING that can help fix this? ive run some virus checks with McAfee but nothing turned up, im also running on windows vista if that makes a diffrence thanx! more

Open Question: My iPod Nano 4th Gen is not recognized by my computer?

Just bought a new Nano. When I plugged it in for the first time a window popped up saying something about a Logo check and downloading software. It then recommended that I stop the download, so I did, because apparently, I am very stupid. Now, it is not recognized by the computer-- the iPod has the "Connected" screen on it but the computer won't allow me to sync music into it. Thanks Apple, you rock. Open Question: Runes of Magic Upload Error?

I downloaded Runes of Magic from website, patched everything to the end where it says "Start Game". When I start the game, the background is pure black, and then 10 seconds later, a message pops up. It's the Upload error. "We established an error report etc." Then it'll say click OK or CANCEL; if you click any one of them, I just exit the game. And then if I try to play again, the exact same thing will happend. How can I fix this? I have the requirements to play the game (I think). Open Question: What's wrong with the program MediaMonkey, on my computer?

Okay, so to put music onto my iPod touch (because i HATE using iTunes) I downloaded media monkey (the free one) onto my computer. I import songs using limewire. Recently, whenever I open media monkey up, the error report message comes up, sometimes I send it, other times I don't. No matter what, It always closes on me. Even if I send the error report, then open the program up again, the message still comes up. It started happening around the time when my friend sent me a song thru the AIM media transfer. What would cause the message to keep popping up? and would it just benefit me better to uninstall the whole program nd just download it again? Thank You. more

Open Question: Why would my iTunes do this?

I have an iPhone and have been downloading music directly to the phone using the iTunes store. I would then sync. it with my computer. Everything was fine untill I one day when I tries to sync. 50+ songs were "lost". The window that pops up says iTunes could not locate the songs or that they could not be found. I'm really upset about this because I technically just lost $50. Any help would be amazing! Thank you! more

Open Question: My overlord 2 isn't working?

I just got Overlord 2 and downloaded it onto my computer. It installed fine but when I start it it skips through the codemasters logo and legal page, going straight to the loading screen. It stays on the loading screen for a small amount of time(about 10 seconds) then the screen goes black for a second and after that the screen turns a dark gray and an error report pops up forcing me to close the game. This has happened on two computers now. Also I don't think it matters but the music keeps on playing throughout this whole thing. Does anyone know whats happening and how to fix it?I forgot to say that I already uninstalled and reinstalled it but I didn't put it in a different place I will try that. more

it all started with the "error 2002: bad movie atom" thingy that popped up when trying to open a music vid with itunes/quickplayer. AND the vid refuses to sync with my Sony Walkman (using windows media player). so i downloaded iTunes Agent which stated would sync any devices with iTunes (other than the usual iPhone etc)..HOWEVER i found out the device needs have its own "assigned drive letter" which my Sony Walkman doesn't have ... I have an older iPOD, a 30gb iPOD video, and right after I opened it on Christmas, my mom's then boyfriend took it over to his eletronic-nut son's house so he could download music on to my iPOD for free. I was going to try to download music myself but then my mom told me that it would cost money to use iTunes or something like that, so I was like ah forget it, and I never really bothered with iTunes or anything like that because either my mom's ex's son and my friend would put music on for me... So, I moved not too long ago, and wanted to start using iTunes to put music on my iPOD myself, then realized that the installation cd was gone! So, I've downloaded iTunes 8, and I connected the usb cord from my iPOD to the computer, and a message popped up saying that the hardware may not work properly or something like that. Then, this message popped out saying "Attempting to copy to the disk 'my ipod failed. you do not have enough access privileges for this operation." It also said "itunes could not save ur music folder because u don't have write access. Check ur permissions on ur music folder and folders in ur music folder. then try copying this file again." So basically, i connect my walkman to an usb and my windows media player pops up. I go to the sync category where it says i can drag music to a list to begin syncing (syncronizing?). Okay I have a brand new Dell computer. Like it just came in at the beginning of this month (June 2009). And so far it's been working perfectly up until a little bit ago, it won't let me save/download ANYTHING. I download music through torrents and when I click download (I use Firefox btw) the download box for firefox will show up and then it'll pop up that box that says "all downloads are finished" but here's the kicker: it's not on my computer! Anywhere! I've tried IE and the same thing happens there. Hi, I am trying to figure out a problem I am now having with my internet. For one, when I try to close a window in internet explorer, I am prompted with a window that says, "Internet Explorer raised unhandled exception in third party module and should be closed. We are sorry for the inconvenience." When I try to close that prompt, it attempts to open another tab in my browser... Unless I repeatedly try to click on the X button, I am not able to close out. Also, every once in a while, a blank pop-up window will show up. It is possible that the other day, I downloaded an unsure music file, that tried to open in Windows Media Player. I've ran my virus scan a few times, but no infections are reported. Can anyone please give me some information on this problem? Can you identify this problem? Or can you reccommend a certain scan? This evening, I went to youtube.com and as usual I sign in. So, I put in my username and password and pressed sign in and from there on, I was in shock. A message popped up in red which said "Account disabled, please use a different email." I've had my account since December 2008 with a total of 178 videos. All in which was just music and the album art. Some video's after processing would say video disabled but I'd resolve them with the following message: "Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. I know how youtube gives a message saying not to upload music videos but I wanted to see if the dispute would work on it. I downloaded the video, and uploaded it. Filled in the dispute form after being disabled and it was live. 15 minutes later, i get a warning message: "Please Note: Repeat incidents of copyright infringement will result in the deletion of your account and all videos uploaded to that account. In order to prevent this from happening, please delete any videos to which you do not own the rights, and refrain from uploading additional videos that infringe on the copyrights of others. For more information about YouTube's copyright policy, please read the Copyright Tips guide" I decided to delete the video, so my account wouldn't be disabled. But today, I was in shock to find out my account was disabled, I went to my hotmail account and I didn't receive any email from youtube explaining why my account was disabled. So I don't know a lot about computers so if you help me please explain good. 1st question. We have a lot of viruses on our computer, does anybody know how I can get rid of them and how to keep my computer from getting them?? 2nd question On windows media player my songs aren't playing anymore. Voting Question: I just got SanDisk Cruzer 2.0 flash drive 8GB as a gift, but it's built in winamp U3 won't work on my laptop?!?

To me its way too complicated. I transferred all my winamp music from my PC to this stupid flash drives built in winamp U3. Now, the flash drives built in winamp works fine on my PC, but when I try to use it on my laptop it pops up with all my music but it wont play any of it, it kinda shuffles through all the music fast w/o playing the music, it says it's "playing back" but i don't think that the problem... My laptop has no internet so maybe that's the issue, also my pc has an actual winamp download, my laptop doesn't, but I thought the flash drives winamp should work regardless?? Should I uninstall all the U3 stuff, it seems pointless for a college student with my own computer, my mom just wanted to get me something nice... Ok so i was downloading some music needed for a party when a pop up comes from AVG saying it blocked a trojan horse and adware through its web blocker. Well, i decided to run a full system scan and my computer oddly turns off and back on saying the cpu is too high and i have to run it in BIOS. I ran it in safe mode w/ networking and an ad came up from IE. I left my computer off thinking maybe the virus will only when on, so WHAT SHOULD I DO, should i run in safe mode and system restore? Resolved Question: Hack to adjust Sims 2 Free Time Wants?

I absolutely love the Free Time expansion pack for Sims 2. My only issue with it, is it seems that it seems to completely consume their wants, and it's driving me crazy. I have two sim adults and one child. Since both adults are at the top of the music and culinary career tracks, they have very high creativity and cooking levels. Now every time they wake up all they want to do is play every instrument in the house, serve food, talk about their hobby, and blog about their hobby. I also have a lot of other expansion packs and their wants tend to be 75% Free Time wants, 15% Pets wants, 5% Seasons Wants, and 5% Family related wants. It's driving me crazy! They used to want to adopt a child, but now that I've moved them into a bigger house so they have room for another kid, I can't get that want to come back; I'd hate to waste aspiration points by adopting when it's not in their want wheel. They both have family aspirations, but their wants are always replaced with more hobby related wants rather than interacting with each other or their child. I use the inSIMenator to refresh their wants, but it doesn't help. :/ What I want to know is if anyone here knows of a hack/mod I can download that will sharply reduce the likelihood of a hobby related want to pop up. Or even a hack that would increase the likelihood of a family aspiration want to come up. I haven't found anything so far. Anything like that exist? more

ok so I thought checking songs only afected what went on your iPod, but iTunes isn't playing any of my unchecked songs unless I select one but then it will only play that song, finish, and then only play checked songs. I know my iTunes isn't playing my unchecked songs because I have a whole folder of unchecked songs and when I go to it iTunes will play one song, and then stop. It's really bugging me.. what's the point of having music if I can't listen to it?
